SPRED of ST. PHILIP’S is a program of
Catholic faith development for persons with special needs, ages six and older. We meet once a month from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.SPRED is a Catholic-community experience for persons, ages 6 and older, with developmental disability, including learning disability and mental retardation. Meets twice a month on Saturday from 9:15 until 11:30 am. A SPRED Mass is offered once a month as part of the program. SPRED
has been operating for over 30 years at Saint Philip the Apostle and will begin again on Saturday, September 10, 2011. The sessions are bi-monthly and includes celebrating Mass with active participation by the members. Children) for children and youth older than 7 years old.What Will the RCIA Class Cover?“And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and
fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” (Acts of the Apostles
2:42)As in the early Christian communities, in our RCIA classes, we
will look at the four main pillars on which the life of faith rests. First, we
will cover “the apostles’ teaching,” that is, the Creed, which contains in it
all the essential pieces of the Catholic faith. Next, we will consider the 7
Sacraments and especially “the breaking of bread” which is an ancient term for
the sacrament of the Eucharist. Also, we will look at God’s Commandments, which
summarize the Moral Teachings of the Church. Finally, we will learn about “the

LECTIONARY PREVIEW GROUPPrepares for the Sunday Eucharist by reading and discussing the assigned Scripture selection for the coming Sunday. The group meets Wednesday morning at 9:30, after Mass, in the Rectory, from September through May.
